Terpenes 101: Terpinolene

Terpinolene is known as the “least-common common Terpene” because it is found in plenty of cannabis strains in small amounts, but not as the dominant Terpene profile in any particular strain. It is also not found exclusively in cannabis, but is mainly found within a variety of trees from lilac, tea, apple, pine, fir as well as found in cumin and nutmeg.

Terpinolene aromas are based entirely on individual olfactory senses and can smell differently to everyone.  Noting that, Terpinolene has been said to have a “fresh” nice woody herbal scent with subtle hints and aftertastes of citrusy pine. This Terpene has been a great choice to add into many beauty products such as topicals, soaps and perfumes as its nice refreshing scent is widely appreciated.

In recent studies, Terpinolene has been used as a mild central nervous system (CNS) depressant that has been shown to reduce symptoms of hypertension, stress anxiety, worry and in higher doses aid in symptoms of insomnia. Other emerging research shares Terpinolenes’ potential in reducing the risks associated with heart disease when used in conjunction with other nutrients as well as its role to potentially inhibit the growth of cancer cells.

Terpenes work synergistically with other Terpenes and Cannabinoids to create desired effects and our MORNING Formula is a great example of how Terpinolene and its other 20+ Terpenes are doing their job to help provide the stress and anxiety relief that so many have received from consistent daily use.

Research is still being conducted and with continuous acceptance of the positive benefits of all Terpenes, including Terpinolene, the more beneficial products we are able to create that provide more direct aid for your everyday needs.
